With all the search engines, map apps, social apps, and directories out there, people still have a hard time finding a local business - let alone local offers. Unbelievable but true. We set out to change that.
We've been in the local search space since 2006 and started on this adventure because we couldn't find local products and services online. We created a website called Zidster.com and purchased data for three states, NJ, NY, and PA. Our advantage was being able to search for a business based on products and services not just name or category. Although we had unique information, we couldn't shake the preference for Google.
In 2012 we started talking about creating an app to help people find local businesses. What really cemented our approach was when Gary, Co-Founder, had his flight diverted from Miami to Dallas forcing him to find overnight accommodations. There was nothing useful to help him find a hotel. (continued next column)
